{Cake Smash} Happy Happy First Birthday!

It was a bit rainy and gloomy on this handsome little one's first birthday, but he totally didn't seem to care. He was content just to be with his parents and share a dinosaur or two with me. His expression when his mama sat him down in front of his cake was priceless - he just gave her this look that said, "Seriously, this is for me?" - and then he went to town squishing the frosting and smearing it just about everywhere. Happy happy birthday, little guy!

Maybe it's the way little ones look at you in disbelief that the cake is just for them. Or maybe it's the way they start off with a dainty little bite before diving in to the frosting. Or maybe it's just the sheer joy of celebrating a first trip around the sun. Whatever it is, I can't stop grinning during a cake smash, while I'm editing, or trying to choose my favorites to post, and this sweet little one's session was no exception. Happy birthday, sweet girl!

To celebrate O's first birthday, his mama baked him a cake and let him have at it and I was the lucky one to get to photograph it all. He wasn't quite sure what to think at first, but quickly got the hang of smearing frosting and getting his sugary fingers into his mouth. I've seriously never laughed so hard while taking pictures - he made the cutest expressions but the best was when he picked up the entire cake...
